West Baseball won all three games on Saturday en route to a championship in the Holland West Ottawa Invitational.  The Titans defeated the hosts 4-2, topped Byron Center in the second game and finished it off with a win over Zeeland East.  The “gamechanger” app can be a little difficult to translate but please see details from each game below.

 

Titans Defeats West Ottawa, 4-2

Titans beat West Ottawa 4-2 on Saturday.

Sam Dekuiper took the win for Titans. He lasted six and a third innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out ten. Andy Soma threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Titans hit one home run on the day. Brendan Pierce went deep in the third inning.

Pierce went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Titans in hits.

 

Titans Holds Off Byron Center As 6-Run Deficit Is Nearly Erased

Titans got out to a six-run lead in the fourth inning and held on for a 9-8 victory over Byron Center on Saturday. Byron Center scored six runs in the failed comeback on a single by #7 in the fourth, a single by #6 in the fifth, a in the fifth, a single by #17 in the fifth, and a error in the fifth.

In the first inning, Titans got their offense started. Sam Dekuiper doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Titans notched three runs in the fourth inning. River MooreJack Beltinck, and Cameron Cobball drove in runs in the frame.

Braden Brown was the winning pitcher for Titans. He allowed one hit and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Beltinck and Corey Parkinson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Luke Robertson started the game for Titans. He lasted two innings, allowing five hits and two runs while walking one

Titans scattered 12 hits in the game. Dekuiper and Brown all managed multiple hits for Titans.Dekuiper went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Titans in hits.

Runs At A Premium As Titans Defeats Zeeland East

Both teams were strong on the hill Saturday, but Titans defeated Zeeland East 3-1. Titanspitchers allowed just five hits to Zeeland East.

Titans fired up the offense in the first inning, when Braden Brown doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Brendan Pierce led the Titans to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He lasted two innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out five and walking one. Colin Flansburg and Andy Somaentered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Flansburgrecorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Titans.
