Titan Soccer continued their perfect run through the Big North Conference last night defeating the TC Central Trojans 3-1 at West High School. The match started slow for both teams but picked up pace as the half wore on; Dutmers would knock in a marker from close range to stake the Trojans to a 1-0 advantage. West seemed to be content with that score into halftime, plagued with a lack of emotion & drive they needed a spark. Senior Mackenna DeVries lofted a long effort into the box and it found the back of the net for an unexpected equalizer. The goal gave a shot of adrenaline into the Titans and just after the kick-off they found themselves up in the match 2-1. A corner less than a minute after DeVries had tied the match fell in the box; Maya Dean played an angled pass to Jaelyn Dobrowolski who slotted it home. Two goals in a minute’s time provided a different mood at the break.
The second half had West absorbing pressure from Stratton’s maisy dribbling runs & long free kicks; Hannah Shramski made some important saves in front of a backline that worked hard to keep the game in front of them. Ellie Warren had a standout performance tonight but she wasn’t alone; Farah, Parker and Zoutendam did their part with Ava Warren also providing important defensive performances. The match was out of reach after Reigan Buttleman played a beautiful diagonal ball to the back of the Trojan defense; DeVries ran on to score the 3rd goal and settle things.
Good luck to the Titans on Thursday when they host Gaylord High School for a 6:45 kick.
